First Communion/First Eucharist

Communion or the Lord's Supper is the breaking and eating of bread to symbolize Christ's body broken for us and drinking wine to remember the blood he shed for our sins.

The First Holy Communion is a very important sacrament every Catholic child must go through. After their Baptism into the Catholic faith, Holy Communion is the next sacrament of initiation. During this sacrament, it is the first time a child can partake in the Holy Eucharist, the most important part of the Holy Mass for Catholics. The First Communion is considered as one of the most important and holiest sacraments for a Catholic child.

Eating and drinking with the rest of the community at the Table of the Lord is a sign of belonging fully to that community. First Holy Communion, that is, sharing in the body and blood of the Lord at Mass (Eucharist) for the first time, is the climax of the initiation process.

The First Holy Communion is a Catholic ceremony, which marks a child or adult's first reception of the Sacrament of the Eucharist. It is an extremely important event in a Catholic family's life and is marked with celebrations, family gatherings and festive parties as well as gift-giving and special white clothes.

A First Communion gift is a thoughtful gesture that is sure to be well received by the communicant and their parents. Most guests who attend First Communion parties  will want to arrive with something in hand. Some communicants choose to give their godparents a gift on First Communion.
